Hydraulic hammers are striking hard, delivering consistent energy for reliable pile driving above and under water.

The centre of the pile driving solution is the MHU Hydraulic Underwater hammer. The hammer’s flexible design allows a customisable solution for clients’ needs. Hammers can be provided in varying energy intervals, from 100 kJ, all the way up to, but not limited to, the largest hammer ever built: the MHU 4400S, offering a whopping 4400 kJ of power.

The MHU is built to withstand the harsh offshore conditions and deliver reliable and consistent performance. The complete service program from Acteon ensures the longevity and efficiency of the pile driving system.

POWER REQUIREMENTS

Whatever your energy requirements, MENCK can supply hammers at various intervals from 100 kj to 4400 kj of power. Every project is different and energy requirements differ based on pile size, environment and water depth.

To find out about each pile size, select your power requirements from the drop-down menu. Standard pile sleeve data is provided, but please note that our insert system allows for quick and easy pile sleeve adaptation for various pile sizes.

100 kj

Originally built for offshore conductor installation with its light weight and versatility, the MHU 100C is ideal for smaller subsea pile installation and onshore construction. The MHU100C is built to withstand harsh offshore conditions and deliver reliable and consistent performance.

  • Lower ceiling clearance for transport and a smaller footprint on deck with offset lifting supports and eccentric pins.
  • Safety shut-off devices are triggered if the shackle leaves its horizontal resting position, indicating tension on the crane line. Sensors monitor hammer to pile contact, so if there is not proper contact to the pile, the hammer will not operate.
  • Reduced energy loss with the pressure compensation system where the system monitors the water level inside the pile sleeve, preventing water blows and associated energy loss.
  • A closed loop hydraulic system minimises the risk of oil emission and biodegradable oil is used.

MHU 100C Datasheet

150 - 300 kj

For projects needing 150 – 300 kJ of power, we offer the MHU150S subsea hammer for above and shallow water and the MHU270T for deepwater. The MHU 150S and MHU 300S hammers are both directly adaptable to pile sizes ranging from 0.5m OD (24-in.) to 2.2m OD (84-in.). In line with its integral design considerations, these hammers can be utilized for above water and shallow subsea operations in up to 300 m water depth. Once paired with MENCK’s deepwater girdle-type powerpack, these hammers can support installation efforts in water depths down to 3,000 m (10,000-ft) effectively and efficiently. The integral part of the technology – the MHU hammer – is one and the same for every system and size.

Our MHU series of hydraulic underwater hammers in the 400-550kJ energy range are easy to operate and easy to maintain. For projects needing 800 kJ of power, we provide the MHU 800S subsea hammer for above and shallow water and the MHU 750T for deepwater. The MHU 800S hammers are directly adaptable to pile sizes ranging from 1.1 m OD (42-in.) to 5.2m OD (205-in.). In line with its integral design considerations, these hammers can be utilized for above water and shallow subsea operations in up to 300 m water depth. Once paired with our deepwater girdle-type powerpack,  these hammers can support installation efforts in water depths down to 3,000 m (10,000-ft) effectively and efficiently. The integral part of the technology – the MHU hammer – is one and the same for every system and size.
