Aquatic, the flex-lay and retrieval brand in Acteon’s Energy Services division, is proud to bring its latest, uprated four-track tensioner to the offshore renewable energy and oil and gas market. Building on the success of the market-leading high-capacity AQTT10 Tensioner system, Aquatic has worked closely with customers and field service teams to produce a more versatile system.
The new tensioner includes the installation of the latest control and automation and intelligent grip system that offers increased redundancy, safety, and improved accuracy in system feedback to the operator; this is especially important when dealing with fragile flexible products. The tensioner can operate with high grip force allowing maximum tension capacity at a lower coefficient of friction, effectively increasing the overall line pull capacity. This widens the tensioner’s overall suitability allowing it to operate outside its originally designed parameters.
For Aquatic the upgraded tensioner has opened the opportunity to work in areas of the market they wouldn’t have had access to in the past. This has already enabled Aquatic to secure a long-term contract with a customer for work offshore in Brazil.
This success is a result of Aquatic implementing a rolling program of upgrading and uprating their entire tensioner fleet in response to industry demand. This is the third Aquatic tensioner to undergo investment as part of the ongoing commitment to customers’ feedback and needs.
