This version of the 1071-Series Sonar has been specifically designed to produce the highest resolution scanning sonar images possible with 675 kHz. Its design is targeted at bottom clearance, body recovery, underwater construction and applications where data clarity supersedes any other requirement.
This sonar head should also be considered in conditions where the in-water temperatures are lower than 4° C, or higher than 20° C. Domed, oil-filled heads may acoustically defocus beyond these temperature ranges. This sonar head incorporates the electronic advantages increased sampling rates, wider receiver bandwidth, increased power output, and a very narrow horizontal beam pattern with the fan transducer. The telemetry is RS 485 and RS 232 compatible, and is automatically sensed and configured. The transducer is of a bare-shaft design, but the motor-end is oil compensated to prevent water ingress into the main electronic stack via the transducer shaft.
The sonar head is compatible with the MS1000 and MS900D Surface Processors. To take full advantage of the advanced features and high resolution this head has to be operated with the MS1000 processor.
The 1171 Series of sonar heads have been developed to meet the requirements for both shallow and deep ocean applications. As well as the choice of operating frequencies, the new sonar heads feature faster scanning rates, improved range resolution and even clearer, sharper images, all in a more compact lighter housing.
The Multi-Frequency design allows optimising of the profiling configuration for different applications. Like the sonar head, the transducer is protected within an oil-filled, pressure compensating dome and the telemetry is automatically sensed and configured at start up to match the telemetry link used. The sonar head operation is also configured and controlled using the MS1000 Software Processor.

The successful SCU V4 processor has been upgraded to provide the latest performance capabilities available from PC technology. The SeaNet SCU V5 provides a reliable, rugged and easy to install replacement for the SCU V4, it has been designed as a robust 19″ rack mount unit with floated shock mount sub assemblies for maximum reliability.
- Single & multiple sensor communication
- Rugged construction
- 19″ Rack mountable
- SVGA/XGA/SXGA & PAL/NTSC Output
- 4 x USB 2.0 ports
A high-speed 156kBits/sec communication system is used within the SeaNet SCU, allowing a full suite of Tritech sensors to be operated over a single twisted pair or, by utilising the Tritech MultiComm, over a RS232 / Fibre-Optic interface.
Each device connected to the SeaNet SCU runs, in real time, in its own onscreen window. The monitor display may be varied to show single or multiple windows and this can be altered at any time during normal operations. This multiple sensor capability provides obvious cost benefits as well as reducing the space requirement for consoles in the control room.
The SeaNet SCU is a multi-tasking control unit running under an embedded Microsoft Windows XP operating system installed on solid-state Flash disk. Fitted with a ‘LAN card’ the SeaNet SCU provides easy access to data storage and data transfer. The SeaNet SCU retains the use of the industry favourite Remote Access Terminal (RAT) a feature of the SCU V4. The RAT provides full control of the SeaNet SCU and its ergonomically designed layout ensures that all functions are well placed and easy to use. The built in mini-joystick on the RAT provides a useful tool for carrying out range and bearing measurements on sonar data. If preferred the RAT may be detached from the SeaNet SCU processor allowing it to be operated from a more desirable location.
The Super SeaKing DFP dual frequency profiling sonar uses the latest technological advances available in transducer design. Using composite transducer technology this mechanical scanning profiler offers substantially increased ranges and image resolution.
Utilising side lobe suppression techniques, improved S/N ratios and a reduced beam width the Super SeaKing DFP Profiling Sonar provides high quality profile data never before available from a mechanical scanning profiler. Operating at 0.6MHz and 1.1MHz this new profiler has been designed with a hard boot, which offers increased protection over conventional profilers.
As part of Tritech’s SeaKing range of sonars, sensors it is possible to run the Super SeaKing DFP Profiling Sonar with other SeaKing sensors over one communication link. All products in the SeaKing family (or third-party products within the ARCNET communications link), can be run simultaneously, using the same processor and display; such as Tritech’s Surface Control Unit (SCU) or a customer supplied PC or laptop.
- 0.6MHz profiler for use in water containing suspended particles or where longer ranges are required
- 1.1MHz profiler for higher accuracy work at short ranges in clearer water
- Hard boot protection for profiler transducer
Increased profiler scan rate
Tritech’s Super SeaKing sonar is the ultimate mechanical scanning sonar. Utilising Digital Sonar Technology (DST) composite transducer and Compressed High Intensity Radar Pulse (CHIRP) technology, the Tritech Super SeaKing DST offers exceptional clarity and resolution as a dual frequency mechanical scanning sonar.
- Digital CHIRP system
- New longer lasting slip ring assembly
- Option of RS232 communications for single sonar applications
- Forward looking sonar, 360° sonar and sector scan sonar modes
The SeaKing sonar is of modular transducer design and a longer-life slip ring assembly to the sonar to minimises the consequences of operational damage and improves on the SeaKing sonar’s reliability. The Super SeaKing Sonar is the industry-standard obstacle avoidance sonar for larger ROVs and is so popular it can be found fitted to work-class ROV fleets around the world.
The Super SeaKing DST Sonar hosts two mechanically scanned imaging sonars in a single subsea pressure housing: a 325 kHz CHIRP sonar with a true operational range of up to 300 metres for long range target recognition and a 650 kHz CHIRP sonar for ultra-high definition images, other frequency options are available on request. Tritech’s SeaKing range of mechanical imaging sonars comprises the SeaKing Hammerhead, Super SeaKing, Super SeaPrince and Micron sonars. All products in the SeaKing family (or third-party products within the ARCNET communications link), can be run simultaneously, using the same processor and display; such as Tritech’s Surface Control Unit (SCU) or a customer supplied PC or laptop.
