Decommissioning engineering

Our decommissioning engineering services combine deep offshore experience with robust analysis and design.

From feasibility studies and permitting to detailed engineering and analyses for planning and execution of decommissioning operations, we help operators plan and execute offshore decommissioning programmes that are safe, compliant and commercially optimised. With lifecycle data and domain knowledge built in - including well, structure and seabed insights - our insights support confident, forward-looking decisions that minimise environmental impact and manage bottom-line risk.

Acting on complexity with integrated expertise

We bring together technical capability and project lifecycle knowledge to deliver offshore decommissioning engineering solutions that are proactive, practical and regulation ready.

Balancing safety, cost and compliance

Every offshore decommissioning project presents a unique mix of regulatory, environmental and logistical challenges. Our engineering programmes include feasibility studies, permitting support and risk assessments that ensure plans are safe, cost-effective and built to meet compliance requirements.

Making lifecycle knowledge count

With experience that spans installation, inspection and decommissioning of offshore platforms, we bring critical context to highly specialised decommissioning engineering decisions. Structural integrity assessments and historical data analysis help prevent costly assumptions and improve certainty around ageing or undocumented infrastructure.

Turning data into risk prevention

We use advanced simulations, digital modelling, historical data and structural analysis to identify potential failure points before they impact operations. From geotechnical instability to material degradation - including risks linked to adjacent well abandonment activities - our engineers spot early signs of risk and enable smarter decision-making across the decommissioning programme.

Offshore decommissioning

Engineering insight that drives safer decommissioning outcomes

Our decommissioning engineers support safer, smarter decisions through technical analysis and modelling that reflect real-world asset conditions. From feasibility studies and structural integrity assessments to risk evaluations and offshore procedures, we help identify the safest, most efficient path to removal.

This insight is critical when dealing with ageing assets, undocumented infrastructure or complex offshore environments. By factoring in everything from soil stability to structural fatigue, we enable operators to execute with confidence and stay ahead of regulatory and environmental risks.

Petrobras awards Acteon 3-year stack-up mooring system services

Intermoor, Acteon’s Moorings and Anchors business line is proud to announce that it has been awarded a new contract by Petrobras for the provision of stack-up mooring system services in Brazil. This work will support light-workover interventions and abandonment operations on installed subsea Christmas trees across both anchored and dynamically positioned Mobile Offshore Drilling Units (MODUs) and Well Intervention Vessels (WIVs). The assets are located in water depths from 80 to 600 metres.
