HPHT engineering from SRP

High pressure and temperature working conditions can cause challenges to economic and low risk field developments. Acteon designs and supplies connectors and forgings for working pressures up to 20,000psi and 350°F, including flanges and Nimway - the high capacity fast make-up completion and workover riser connector.

Design verified, and qualified metal-to-metal and elastomeric seals are available, along with make-up procedures for HPHT applications.

Acteon’s engineers can complete thermal analysis, fatigue crack behaviour and temperature de-rating. These are carried out through detailed 3D finite element analysis and fracture mechanics of dynamically loaded riser components.

When a client required a 18.75″ bore drilling riser for 12,200psi sour service in the North Sea, Acteon designed and qualified a novel shrink fit flange connection to overcome the limitations with thick walled high strength steel welding, rapidly producing a complete riser string. The system was successfully deployed by product and service line brand Claxton, in the North Sea.
