SEPLA (Suction Embedded Plate Anchor)

Intermoor, Acteon’s Moorings and Anchors business line, recently updated its SEPLA product design. The SEPLA (Suction Embedded Plate Anchor) is a pioneering design that combines two proven concepts: suction piles and plate anchors.

In use on several floating energy projects in the world, the Suction Embedded Plate Anchor (SEPLA) is perfect for all sites that need suction pile precision placement and geotechnical efficiency at a lower cost of material and with a much smaller environmental footprint.

The anchor is installed at the desired location and the follower is recovered and then reused for the next anchor installation. See how it works here:

The improved design uses a larger and more robust follower as well as an extended shank on the anchor for better keying performance.

Using 30% less steel than a suction anchor and allowing more efficient transport, it not only considerably reduces the mooring costs but also reduces the carbon impact of the mooring system by 60%.
