Menck, Acteon’s Marine Foundations business line, supplied a reliable pile driving and noise mitigation solution for 50 monopile installations at Ecowende’s offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust West VI in the Netherlands for Van Oord B.V. 

Navigating a critical phase   

Executed during the challenging winter installation season between December 2025 and April 2026, the campaign demanded dependable operational performance within limited weather windows while maintaining compliance with strict environmental requirements.

We deployed our proven MHU3500S hydraulic hammer system in a 7.5 m driving configuration, supported by the Menck Noise Reduction Unit (MNRU), to support monopile installation at Hollandse Kust West VI onboard the offshore wind installation vessel Boreas.  

Maintaining schedule certainty during winter conditions required equipment that would perform reliably during limited weather windows. Our hammer system and service personnel delivered the uptime and operational readiness needed to maintain installation progress throughout the programme.  

Environmental performance was equally important. The project included noise emissions target, with the MNRU playing a role in supporting compliance. The system reduced Sound Exposure Level (SEL) helping the client meet project targets while maintaining efficient pile driving operations.  

In parallel, we have also supported enhanced project transparency and operational insights through a live digital piling dashboard, enabling real-time monitoring of pile driving activity throughout the campaign.

The result

Our equipment supported the successful installation of 50 monopiles with no significant equipment downtime during a winter installation campaign. Reliable hammer performance helped maintain schedule progress during weather windows, while the integrated MNRU supported adherence to strict noise limits. The project demonstrated our ability to combine operational reliability, environmental performance, and digital transparency on a major offshore wind development.
