Project overview

Project type

Offshore platform foundation grouting

Location

North Sea

Solution

  • Recirculating jet mixing & pumping system
  • Portland cement grout
  • DNV-certified full cement silos

Menck, Acteon’s Marine Foundations business line, delivered offshore grouting services to install a wellhead platform foundation and four-legged jacket with driven foundation piles in the North Sea.

The challenge

Together with our partner we had to rapidly develop and approve a grout mix design and prepare the full equipment spread within tight schedule constraints ahead of offshore operations.

Seamless offshore grouting solution

We leveraged our laboratory, supply chain, and equipment capabilities to deliver a high-quality, bonded grouted connection between the jacket, topside, and foundation piles. A grout mix was pre-designed and validated in our lab, enabling swift stakeholder approval prior to mobilisation. This proactive approach reduced preparation time and uncertainty offshore.

The operation used a recirculating jet mixing and pumping system (RJM), combined with Ordinary Portland Cement grout and DNV-certified full-cement silos to ensure consistent, high-quality grout production and delivery. Our modern fleet and robust supplier network across Ireland and Europe ensured reliability and minimal breakdown risk. Close collaboration between onshore and offshore teams enabled tight coordination, while the equipment design supported efficient, high-standard grout mixing, transport, and installation.

This integrated solution met safety, quality, and timeline goals, delivering the grouted foundation connection on schedule and to client requirements.

Innovations in action

  • Recirculating jet mixing & pumping system (RJM)
  • Ordinary Portland Cement grout designed and approved in advance
  • DNV-certified full cement silos for efficient, safe offshore use
  • Pre-deployment laboratory mix validation to expedite offshore approval

The result

We completed the offshore grouting operation successfully within an eight-week preparation phase. The pre-approved grout mix, supported by reliable equipment and close coordination, enabled efficient mobilization and installation. Modern fleet assets and strong supplier partnerships minimised risk and delivery delays. Overall, the solution ensured a high-quality, bonded foundation connection that enhanced safety, saved time, and avoided resource waste.
