Solution

XL Monopile grouting solution

Menck*, Acteon’s Marine Foundations business line, delivered its largest offshore grouting operation to date for DEME, supporting the installation of 61 turbine foundations at the Yeu-Noirmoutier Offshore Wind Farm.

Navigating a critical phase

To keep pace with DEME’s rapid installation schedule, we executed large annulus grouting operations at previously unmatched pumping rates, achieving exceptionally fast turnaround times between pours and enabling fast consecutive foundation installations.

Our solution

01High-volume monopile grouting solution

High-volume monopile grouting solution

Building on experience from the Saint-Nazaire project and leveraging new equipment innovations, we deployed our XL Monopile Grouting Package to meet Yeu-Noirmoutier’s scale and speed requirements.

The package featured two automated planetary batch mixers, auger-fed from four 125 tonne silos. With over 500 tonnes of grout stored offshore and additional Sika Grout 9650 transferred to silos during operations, continuous mixing was maintained throughout each pour. An integrated automated wash system enabled a reduction of cleaning and preparation time between operations. Strong grout installation results were achieved through a high mixing rate, innovative implementations and consistent reliability.

The solution integrated seamlessly with DEME’s MODIGA installation process, supported by jointly developed procedures and offshore service readiness. This enabled the installation of two turbine foundations within five days. The performance demonstrated Acteon’s capacity to deliver large-scale marine foundation projects reliably and efficiently.

The result

We delivered our largest grout pours to date with unmatched mixing speed, reliability, and operational readiness. The XL Monopile Grouting Package enabled DEME to maintain high foundation installation rates, completing two turbine foundations in just five days. The equipment sets new benchmarks for offshore grouting performance and reinforced Acteon’s position as a leader in marine foundations technology.

Acteon’s performance on the Yeu-Noirmoutier Offshore Wind Farm project was outstanding. Their ability to deliver high grout volumes with exceptional reliability and speed was critical to maintaining our fast installation rate. The XL Monopile Grouting Package, jointly improved for this job based on Saint-Nazaire, is unmatched in the market and again integrated seamlessly with our MODIGA installation process. Their team's professionalism and technical expertise made a real difference, and we’re extremely pleased with the results.
