Deepwater geotechnical site investigation offshore Mozambique using PROD technology
Project overview
Location:
Mozambique
Water Depth:
up to 2100 m water depth
Solution:
Deepwater geotechnical investigation
UTEC, Acteon’s Geo-services business line, delivered a comprehensive deepwater geotechnical investigation offshore Mozambique using the Portable Remotely Operated Drill (PROD5) seabed drilling system, combining sampling and in situ data to characterise challenging seabed conditions.
Navigating a critical phase
Operating in remote waters with challenging weather conditions, steep seabed slopes, and limited onshore support, we planned and executed this technically complex deepwater investigation safely and efficiently.
The result
The project was completed on schedule and without incident, demonstrating our competence to deliver large-scale deepwater geotechnical operations in complex offshore environments. Through the integration of subsea tooling, coordinated logistics, and precision data acquisition, we achieved outstanding safety and efficiency. The high-resolution data provided a clear understanding of seabed and near-seabed conditions, supporting subsea foundation design and future offshore development in Mozambique.
This was our 7th project in Mozambique, building on more than a decade of activity in the region. Across Africa, we’ve delivered 12 offshore campaigns in Mozambique, Angola, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mauritania, Senegal, and Tanzania using PROD technology. Globally, our PROD systems have completed over 90 projects in water depths up to 3,000 m, more than all commercially available seabed drilling systems combined.
