PROD (Portable, remotely operated drill)
PROD is a self‑contained, remotely operated seabed drilling and geotechnical testing system, operating in water depths to 4,000 m and investigating seabeds to 150 m. PROD has a proven global track record, including operations in ultra-deepwater, challenging soil conditions, and extreme seabed slopes. Operating directly on the seabed, PROD avoids time-consuming deployment of drill string, yielding immediate efficiency gains.

European offshore wind leaders launch Searénité Consortium to advance marine noise mitigation
Chantiers de l’Atlantique, EDF power solutions, Heerema Marine Contractors, Menck, RTE, Sealence and Smulders have formed a consortium to develop a cutting-edge noise mitigation system for offshore wind operations. The growth of offshore renewable energy presents an important opportunity to further strengthen our commitment to responsible operations. Understanding and managing underwater noise becomes increasingly essential to protecting marine ecosystems. Activities such as ship traffic, sonar use, and offshore construction can affect marine life over large distances. Offshore wind farm installation is one of these activities.

Anchored in experience: How permanent moorings are evolving for FPSOs
The offshore energy market is entering a new era of demand and complexity. Floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) activity is surging across South America, Africa and Asia, with schedules tightening and vessel availability remaining a critical constraint. According to Rystad Energy, over $70 billion in FPSO capex is forecast over the next decade – around 85% of it concentrated in these three regions. As investment ramps up and timelines compress, every day offshore counts.

Engineering offshore resilience: Designing for adaptability and efficiency
The offshore energy sector is evolving rapidly. Both oil and gas fields and offshore wind farms are under pressure to deliver reliable energy while keeping projects affordable. The design choices engineers make today will determine whether these projects remain adaptable, resilient and ready to meet future challenges or whether they become locked into costly, rigid solutions that limit flexibility for decades.
